EXTENDING THE COD SEASON WITH MONTHS
The live Cod is caught by purse seine and most of the fishery takes place during the Cod season in northern Norway. The catch process is handled carefully. Thereafter the fish is hauled or pumped into a storage room with refrigerated seawater. From the vessels, the Cod is transferred to net cages, where it is held until it is slaughtered. The regular Cod fishery is characterized by a short and hectic season. When wild Cod is caught and kept alive in the cage, it makes us able to extend the supply of fresh premium Cod to our customers.
